Introducing Amilli, 18-year-old German new-comer. She grew up in West Germany (Bochum) and started to release music one year ago. She just released a new single called “Oh My”, we asked her a few questions :
Where are you right now ?
Just got back from a tour and my first festivals laying in my own bed.
What is your current state of mind?
I’m really overwhelmed from the last few days/weeks and kinda have to process everything in my mind at the moment. But it’s all positive and I’m really happy.
How did you get started in music?
I’ve always been into music and especially my family had a lot of influence on that. I started to play the piano when I was 7 years old and always sang in the school choir or just by myself in my room. Never actually had the plan to be a musician one day or even thought I’d be good enough. My best friend actually told me how much she liked my voice so about 2 years ago I wrote my first song and recorded it with some friends in a self-made basement studio. I uploaded it on soundcloud just for fun and Leo, who’s my producer and manager now, texted me back then. From there on we made a lot of music together and things just went off really quickly.
What musicians inspired you when you were growing up?
Listened to a lot of Jazz Standards, the Black Eyed Peas, Coldplay, Lauryn Hill, and of course Rihanna. But that’s just a few of them, I’ve always been listening to a ton of music.
Where do you find inspiration for music?
Obviously in other music. But I also get inspired be people in general and art.
Could you tell us more about your writing process?
Most of the time it starts with a beat Leo made, and I just freestyle on it with a weird language or humming to find some melodies and then I write the lyrics. This is what we work with and build from there on.
You just released a new single called, could you tell us more about this new release?
We started the song almost a year ago and I still remember what it was like to hear the hook for the first time. I loved it and still do, because it’s so different from the other releases. It’s about good vibes and way more uptempo and dancey, which I love. It shows another side of mine, just like the music video.
What was the most memorable moment of your career thus far?
Last december I got this newcomer award at the biggest radio award show in Germany. That night changed a lot! I was just starting to get into this music thing at that point and from that day on there are so many people listening to my music and a lot of festival bookings.
What musicians are you listening to at the moment?
